The Florida Social Cognition and Emotion Lab is directed by Dr. Erin C. Westgate, and based in the University of Florida's Department of Psychology.

What is boredom, why do we experience it, and what happens when we do? Our research explores the causes and consequences of emotion, with a special focus on understanding when and why emotions contribute to destructive social behaviors. Where do feelings come from, and how do they shape our behavior? And can we channel that understanding into better outcomes for ourselves and society? We're currently exploring boredom, interest, and thinking (and why some types are more enjoyable than others!).
